Interchangeable barrels

Which Barrel Gives You What

The X3 comes with three barrels and the X5 with five. Every barrel is tourmaline and ceramic with far infrared heat and an ion field, so the only thing that changes between them is the curl.

32mm

Loose Waves

The biggest barrel. Soft, relaxed waves that drop out into a beachy finish. On both the X3 and the X5.

25mm

Classic Curls

The everyday curl — bouncy, holds well, brushes out beautifully. On both the X3 and the X5.

19mm

Defined Curls

Tighter and springier, with more definition and more volume through the lengths. On both the X3 and the X5.

9–18mm tapered

Mermaid Waves

A tapered barrel that curls tighter at the tip and looser at the base for a natural, uneven wave. X5 only.

Tight Ringlets

The smallest barrel, for ringlets and full curly-girl texture. X5 only.

Rose Gold X5

Reverse Conical

The Rose Gold X5 adds a reverse conical barrel — wider at the tip for a curl that opens out at the ends.

Always lock the barrel before you switch it on. The barrel must be locked into the hand unit with the padlock. If it will not lock, or the display reads an error, the barrel has not been pushed all the way in. Using the wand unlocked is a safety risk.

Only change barrels when they are completely cool. Unplug the wand, wait until the barrel is cold to touch, then release the lock and swap.

Use the glove. These wands are clutch-free, which is what gives you the control — but the barrel is hot along its whole length.

Cleaning & care

Looking After Your Barrels

Hairspray and styling product bake onto a hot barrel and turn into a sticky film that grabs the hair. A wipe now and then keeps every barrel gliding.

Unplug it and let the barrel go completely coldBarrels hold heat far longer than they look like they do. Give it twenty minutes.
Release the padlock and remove the barrelOnly once it is cold. Never unlock a warm barrel.
Wipe the barrel with a soft, slightly damp clothWater only, along the length of the barrel, to lift off product residue.
Dry it completelyA clean dry cloth. Do not put a damp barrel back onto the hand unit.
Store the barrels togetherKeep the set together with the heat mat so nothing gets scratched or lost in a drawer.

Never use anything abrasive. No scourers, no alcohol, no surface cleaners — they scratch the ceramic coating and the damage is permanent.

Never submerge any part of it. Not the barrel, not the hand unit, not the cord.

Look after the cord. It is a 3m anti-tangle cord with a 360° swivel — loop it loosely rather than winding it tight around the handle.

Always curl dry hair. Even slightly damp hair will sizzle on a hot barrel and the curl will drop straight out.

Let the curl cool before you touch it. Drop each curl into your palm and let it set as it cools — that is what makes the difference between a curl that lasts the day and one that falls by lunchtime.
